My work represents a fusion of Italian bookbinding traditions and my own modern twists, transforming each book into a timeless heirloom. I learned the art of monastic bookbinding in Italy over 30 years ago, where I was captivated by the simplicity and durability that has defined this centuries-old craft. While I cherish the traditional methods I learned there, over the years I’ve also developed my own stitching techniques to add my own style to every piece.

Lately, I’ve been inspired by Victorian-era architectural hardware. I spend hour after hour searching through salvage yards finding pieces I can alter to create distinctive closure mechanisms. These antique door hinges, icebox hinges, push plates and rosettes not only serve a practical purpose but also bring a sense of history to each book, blending architectural craftsmanship with the intimate art of bookbinding.

For me, every book I make is more than just a functional item—it’s a piece of living art, designed to hold the memories, aspirations, and stories of its owner. In today’s digital world, I want my work to serve as a reminder of the beauty in the tactile and the enduring. My books are created for those who believe that even the most ordinary objects can hold extraordinary significance, transforming them into cherished vessels of both beauty and purpose.
