Ursula Perry-scheffel

I have always been fascinated with movement and as a child, could not stay still. My mother took me to a Calder exhibit in Manhattan when I was 3 years old. I refused to leave, as my tiny hands gripped the bench, refusing to let go. Something happened to me that day, as I was mesmerized by the shadow play created by the mobiles and stabiles methodical movement. In nature, movement is constant, with trees, water, air and light. My first mobile was created with branches, stones and glass, I was six years old. Today, nature continues to be my inspiration as my kinetic sculptures remind us to stay in balance in our lives, our relationships and family. I first sketch my designs on paper and then hand cut the metal into abstract shapes. Stainless steel heavy gauge wire is used to suspend the abstract shapes, which makes them weather resistant and able to withstand high winds. All sculptures are maintenance free and signed.
