Nature tugs a common emotional thread throughout the world. In this series, I play with that thread, using silk, resists, a paintbrush and liquid acrylic. An avid traveler, I pause in my wanderings to be present with an unexpected cluster of flowers in the rain forest, majestic trees in New Zealand, or poppies peeking around a footbridge in Rome. In the process of hand drawing, I work to capture my emotional memory of the experience, rather than a literal rendering of the scene, to create an illustrative image that nudges the boundaries of reality.
