I create functional art in natural stone. My handcrafted vases and other objects inhabit the realm where sculpture and function converge. Focusing on strong minimalistic forms, I provide opportunities for the appreciation of natural stone’s different characteristics such as surface, texture, color, mass and gravity. Pieces are either carved from solid stone or constructed from carefully selected slabs that are cut and laminated before further surface carving takes place. The entire process uses traditional stone working tools and techniques such as carving, sawing, shaping and honing to bring a work to completion.
