For me, it is an emotional journey with a delicate balance of the past against the starkness of time. In a world that seems to change overnight, there is something quieting about an image that makes the world stand still. A centuries-old caste, ancient mountains, a cobblestone alley…all seem to proclaim their fixed hold on the past, present and future. These are the images that stop me, that stop time for me. Each image is a quiet tribute, a recognition of the tension between inevitable change and the desire for permanence and meaning. EquipmentMedium format Pentax 6×7, a large format Fuji 617 camera and a 617 Noblex true panoramic camera.Printing ProcessMy photographs are printed both from a 4×5 internegative using traditional photographic techniques as well as from a digital file to a Chromira photographic printer. I print only on Archival papers.TechnicalI perform every aspect of the creative process, from shooting the images up to and including the assembling of each piece to its final stage for selling. I create a variety of photographic techniques, including but not limited to, tinted black and whites. Every original is hand-produced to museum-quality standards. I mount and mat all my originals with 100% cotton rag board. This ensures an entirely acid-free environment for the photograph allowing many years of enjoyment. All my mat board is personally hand-cut to individually fit each photographic size. I have help with the noncreative aspect of my business while I am at a show of shooting abroad.
