Carol Fugmann

I fabricate my jewelry using sterling, 14-24K gold, sheet, wire and pearls. My exploration of pearls joined with metal has led me to construct shelter like jewelry similar to the shell of a nautilus or a crystal containing geode. I enjoy gardening, my vegetable and flower gardens provide continuous stimulation and spark my creativity. Plants maturing in my gardens compare with a jewelry piece transforming and blooming from beginning to end on my work bench. I use contrasting color, oxidation, raised areas of metal, hammered and polished finishes to show patterns, textures and shapes found in flowers, petals and seed pods in nature.
