Ariana Armulowicz

My choice of medium is alcohol-based ink and marker paintings, and I am currently creating pieces that feature side profiles of women’s heads. Each incorporates nature to signify freedom, strength, progress and resilience and captures the strength and beauty of women, as well as nature, from around the world. The women I choose to represent in my work seem forever pensive. I have a strong desire to show how beauty comes in many forms and colors, and conveys different feelings sometimes wild and freeing, at other times peaceful and reminiscent. I am inspired and fascinated by human faces and the stories their eyes tell, without a word being spoken. I draw and paint with alcohol-based inks and markers on synthetic paper, starting with a rendering of a woman’s profile and then decide which colors and elements I want to incorporate into it. My design process is to pour inks into selected areas followed by the use of alcohol-ink markers for definition and detail.
