Since my firtst experience in working with clay, I have had an interest in traditional forms. Ranging from Greek amphoras to works of Native Americans from the Southwest. During my undergraduate work I became very interested in works from the Far East. Mostly the Masters from Japan. This inspiration has stayed with me throughout my career as a clay artist. I am also greatly influenced by colors and patterns found in the natural world. Landscapes, trees, forests, rock formations, the ground we walk on. I have tried to portray these influences in my work through the use of various glazes and surface quality.
