A cycle of creation and destruction does exist in the base layers from applying and sanding away acrylic paint and art resin. This imparts translucent depth between pigment layers, and the eroded resin makes a visible tooth for the subsequent, more refined layers of paint. Often I coat these finished paintings with flawless unsanded art resin.
