Rey D’Alfonso

The geometry of natural forms and the movement of the cosmos are twin elements that inspire my work. Shape and color are the foundation for each painting, with scratching, melting and oxidizing providing a distinct structure that allows me to build up the surface in hundreds of layers. By incorporating and developing the organic subtleties of pigments and aluminum in response to heat, my work is increasingly less calculated and more responsive to the creative process.
