Michael Hayes

My work is about finding fluidity in pattern. The patterns of my daily life, my routine, repetition of body movement & pattern in my thoughts: all of these influence my work.Each piece I make is a reflection of attentiveness to these daily patterns. Whether sorting my materials by colors or simply giving my body the proper care on a daily basis, I am using each moment to build for tomorrow. In this way, the evolution of the glass I make is directly related to the moments before it.These ultimately are very simple things. I am not striving for a deeper meaning to be seen in the glass, other than life of the person that makes it. The life of a person who maintains attentive awareness.
