Katherine McNeill

A dedicated artist, I am known for my vibrant aspen and mountain oil paintings trying to make one feel and smell the mountain air as though they were walking through the forest and feel the crunch of the quaking aspens on the ground as you loose yourself and feel you want to step into that place for the moment. Using many colors to paint the aspens, I take all the surrounding reflective colors and make the trees realistic, each having their own personality. Giving my paintings a mystical feeling to them, every once in a while you will even discover an angel hidden ever so delicately into the trees or in the clouds.

I gain much of my inspiration from repeated excursions into nature with my husband while four-wheel driving into remote areas. Trying to capture the right time of morning or early evening just to get the beautiful shadows and to feel and small the mountain air and listen to the breeze filtering through the trees, feeds my soul. I sketch and photograph with a digital camera and my own artistic sensibilities anxious to sit down to perfect my oil-based perspective on life. I also have giclee prints of my paintings. I am very selective on the paintings I choose for prints. I have a printer in Louisville, Colorado that takes my original paintings and puts it on a flat bed scanner and is able to reproduce these paintings on to the finest canvas, I intern get the giclee hand stretch and hand emblish sign and number 1/50 only, so that they are very close to having an original at a much reduced price, which makes me more marketable.

Years of painting aspen trees have in many ways been a spiritual journey. With every stroke of my brush, I try to catch my faith onto canvas to touch some ones life and give them a sense of peace in their heart.
