Jack Schwab

I make contemporary furniture and decorative wood constructions from solid hardwoods.I do not offer a standard line of furniture, choosing to make every piece unique in style, materials, and scale.

Typically, my work begins with an idea and a simple sketch. A successful design will have clean lines and an economy of detail. Then, I hand select rough wood and begin the construction process. I use traditional joinery but apply modern methods whenever possible. While I use power tools and machinery, a considerable amount of hand-work is necessary. Once assembly is completed, the piece is hand-rubbed with multiple coats of a clear finish to emphasize the wood’s natural beauty.

As for my wood constructions, they tend to be a little bold and dynamic. I try to make them compatible with my furniture designs and, in fact, I view all my work from a sculptural perspective.
