CameraSHY cove represents collected curiosities of mine forged into metal, captured in photography and examined in botany and geology. As a former biologist, I look to be captured by the smallest details of nature that give sense to a bigger scope of life – in both its resilient strength & beautiful frailty. My jewelry line maintains my scientific curiosities as it focuses on these nuances, that are often a bit “camera shy,’ while also showcasing artistic experimentation. From metals, fibers to found organics, I love blending traditional mediums and materials in non-traditional ways. Currently, my collection features rugged crushed stones set to resemble geodes and underwater riverbed terrain in sterling silver channels. My work combines classic silver smithing methods, cold enameling techniques, photography & found organics for a nature inspired jewelry line that offers a whimsical interplay of tradition and innovation. All jewelry work is handmade by myself via small batch production in my Richmond based studio using raw sterling silver sheet, wire and bezels. I believe in making jewelry for everyday occasions and thus my work is dainty and feminine while rugged in aesthetic and charm.
