Starting with bar stock, the steel is layered and forge welded to achieve a billet with the desired pattern. From that, a piece is cut and a blade forged to shape. The knife is heated to critical temperature and immediately quenched in oil to harden the steel. The edge is determined by the function of the blade, optimizing the geometry to achieve the best cutting edge.
