MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival has joined forces with many agencies throughout the community to present one of the most comprehensive environmental programs in the country. Together, we are making significant strides in terms of reducing our carbon footprint.
About the Festival
Fort Worth B-cycle – 14 Stations Near Us!
Avoid the hassle of parking by riding a bicycle. There are 14 bike-sharing stations conveniently located within walking distance of the festival. There’s no better time to try out Fort Worth B-cycle, the first bike sharing system in North Texas. You can also ride bike share from Fort Worth T&P Station or Fort Worth Central Station straight to the heart of Main Street. Travel Green
Ride Trinity Metro buses, TEXRail or the TRE. Use pedal power or ride a B-cycle to Downtown. Carpool. Take a hike. Enjoy free water to reduce use of plastic. The festival grounds are in beautiful Downtown and the city’s Trinity Trails. Use eco-friendly ways to come and go and join thousands of others to green up your travel. And hop aboard The Dash, Trinity Metro’s all-electric bus, to connect Downtown with the City’s Cultural District for even more art!
Recycling
Specially marked containers will be available for attendees to recycle cans and bottles, an endeavor that many of our sponsors support and encourage. We keep over five tons of materials out of our landfills!
H2O to GO!
Presented by Frost, these free water stations feature U/V filtered, chilled water – Free! Bring your own container or you can purchase commemorative aluminum water bottles right at the booth. Each year, over 16,000 liters of water is dispensed, saving that many plastic bottles from the landfill. This is well over 120,000 liters over the past seven years.
Artists are Going Green!
The MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival celebrates the beauty of all art – whether crafted by hand, by tool, by musical instrument or even by the earth itself. MAIN ST. salutes those artists who use earth-friendly techniques, materials or themes in their work, such as:
Non-toxic, non-polluting and new methods that are safer and healthier than traditional ones
Applications of ecological themes, including nature, its processes or environmental problems
Organic, natural, sustainable, reclaimed and/or recycled materials or fibers
Integration of environmental forces, such as creating artwork affected or powered by wind, water, light, etc.
Use of solar or other renewable energy sources during production, transportation and/or presentation
Participation in green organizations or sites generally concerned with the issues of art and the environment.
Use of digital methodologies in creating artwork
