Vicki Banks

Like these curious, feathered collectors of shiny and intriguing objects, I always have an eye out for unusual treasures to incorporate into my work: an old millstone, a rusted truck horn, or vintage typewriter. Fixed in the immutable medium of bronze, the creatures atop these objects appear to come to life. Personality is what I look for in each of the animals I choose to sculpt, perhaps the result of my twenty years in the animation industry. Though I now work in three dimensions, I still am trying to tell a story that brings a smile to people’s faces. If I can reveal the humor or beauty of an unconventional subject, I’ve done my job.
