As a wood toy artist, I handcraft wooden toys with quality reminiscent of yesteryear. Since 1976, my toys have been displayed at prominent art and craft shows, featured in publications, and have received numerous awards. They have also been shown in Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas video “The Little Drummer Boy” and in their DVD to be released this spring. The premise upon which I create my toys is simple. I want my toys to be around for generations to come! My toys are sure to become your keepsake heirlooms.
My toys represent the ultimate in wood craftsmanship – original designs preserved forever in hardwood beauty. Wood for the different toy parts is carefully selected from rough lumber such as walnut, cherry, rosewood and maple. The woods and their rich grain patterns give each toy a unique character. No two toys are alike. Hours of painstaking care are given each toy as it progressed from its initial design to precise cutting and fitting to hand sanding and shaping and finally to lustrous oiling and waxing. Stains are never used.
The Collector’s Series toys have a surprising feature which is exclusive to Baldwin Toys. Most of the designs are based on a puzzle concept. The various parts of each toy can be taken apart and put back together, giving the toys yet another dimension of enjoyment. These toys are intended as collectible pieces of art.
