Scott Coulter
Originally from the Credit River Valley in Ontario, Canada…Lived for six years near the Rockies of Alberta followed by 22 years painting in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York…the work is an attempt to portray the landscape with atmosphere and volume…The unique style has a three dimensional quality that tends to draw the viewer into the painting…The paintings themselves are impressionistic but appear hyper-realistic when viewed from any distance…The pieces usually depict actual locations but in some cases are fictional…generally the Appalachians and the Rockies are the subjects of choice…The pieces are done entirely with brushwork…There are no airbrushing, digital or photographic processes involved. The paintings are done in the studio. No projection devices are used. The Reproductions that are available for sale are giclees printed on brilliant white watercolor paper. Giclee’s are individually produced high-resolution, high fidelity reproductions done on a large format printer. They are digitally scanned or photographed from the original acrylic paintings. Signed and numbered prints are in editions of 250.
