I make composite photo-montages in a pop art style,using discarded media and my old photographs and artwork in a re-imagined way. Using GIMP open source software and a wacom tablet, I combine up to 35 layers of photos,illustrations, paintings and textures per piece. The many different parts are “painted” together with a computer stylus and mouse making the “brushstrokes” to create a totally new composition. Each piece is hand framed in wood salvage from local building sites and then topped with a bio-based epoxy. My ultimate goal is to not use any “new” resources when making pieces, but at the same time, create a completely new art piece.
