Our pet chickens never fail to make us smile and inspired the creation of our own version of the sheep ottoman by Francois Lalanne in my final furniture design studio at K-State. From the art processes of hand-felting fiber into feathers, turning wood into egg-shaped cores and casting sculptures of chicken feet and beaks in bronze emerged Henny and Penny – the original chicken footstools. They, along with our other creations, have been bringing about smiles ever since!
