Robin Kittleson
My pieces begin as a mass of molten glass pulled into long thin rods. These rods contain a series of concentric circles in colors initially layered together and can only be seen when snipped into a bit and turned on end. Hundreds, sometimes thousands, of these cross sections are individually arranged on a kiln shelf then fired to become a single surface. No two will ever be identical. Each piece is extensively cold worked for a satin finish and fired again for the final shaping.
It is important to me to create pieces that are beautiful yet are functional. My hope is my pieces are displayed then used as a part of everyday life.
