Robert Matthews

Themes in my work are frequently architectural, exploring our relationship to the built environment and feelings of belonging or alienation that arise from perceptions of place. I create a unique mold for each piece. Texture is created with relief carving, paper and/or plant material. When the design is complete the piece is cast with lightweight concrete. Color is added after the piece has cured.
