Florida is an enchanting place, with a delicate ecosystem that is rich in exotic life, especially its water systems – the very essence of Florida and life itself. In the summer of 2011, I began a photo documentary of Florida’s serene water systems and hidden treasures using large format black and white film negative formats, with a focus on authenticity and conservationism. Since displaying this new series, I have been honored with nearly $28,000 in awards. Black and white film captures the true essence of Florida – a oneness that treats the bright blue sky, colorful palm trees, clear water, and dark earth as equal participants in the cycle of life. Large film negatives also allow me to print a high-detail, majestic, rich toned print that connects the viewer in a timeless, intimate way. Photos are printed by the artist, using the finest fiber papers, mounted on archival materials. Frames are custom made by the artist using renewable natural wood and museum glass.
