During my painting, I call upon an arsenal of hand made tools & textures that I have created out of tempered metals to gouge panels of aged wood and steel. I also use heat as a primary instrument. The use of heat allows me to vitalize the process of painting and gouging by introducing an element of chance. I find that by nurturing the arbitrary (and undirected) reactions of materials in the process of heating and cooling it the creative process is in a constant evolution. Pure pigments and waxes are applied with heat and all objects are carved by hand, as in the oars or cast in bronze- the propellers, etc.
