My love for art began early in life and has continued to grow and develop throughout the years. I work primarily in polymer clay; I employ a variety of techniques in working with clay. I blend my own colors and often fold them into intricate patterns (a process called caning) this process takes up to 10 lbs. of clay and several days to create. This large mass of clay is then pulled by hand much like taffy until it is of a size and format in which I can begin the creation of my pieces. Individual slices are then layered into art pieces. In addition to caning, I often hand paint, silkscreen, carve and sculpt with polymer clay. I am a full time Professor of Psychology, and hence my art is my therapy. Many of my pieces reflect conditions deep within the human psyche, and all of it is intensely personal to me. I frequently channel the plight of women, and, my devotion to nature, and the archetypes of the soul. My pieces are steeped in rich in symbolism and often carry a dual message. It is my wish that my art leaves you contemplating those messages.
