My collection of nautical photographs are from the coast of Maine, and area I have photographed extensively over the past twenty-five years. From my explorations with both color and black and white films, I often find that a sepia process will best articulate my interpretation of these classic schooners.

All photographs were made with a 35mm camera and available light. I use various Kodak and Fuji transparency films, both slow and fast speeds to allow hand holding the camera under various lighting conditions. Using a high end Imacon film scanner, Photoshop and a Laser-graphic film recorder, I am able to produce 4×5″ internegatives that allow me to make sepia toned prints directly on color negative paper. I personally made all prints on display in my darkroom using traditional photographic methods. I print on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper with a tested 60 year color permanence. Prints are dry mounted and matted using acid free foam board and 100% rag mat board to ensure that archival standards have been met. I employ one assistant to helps me with the framing and finishing.
