I sculpt items from nature or things that I would find in my life. I try to create something that makes the viewer stop and think ( many sculptures have a hidden message)or sculptures that make people smile. When I look out in my booth and see people enjoying the work I know that I have done my job. I strive to always push myself to do sculptures that take wood carving to a new level. I believe that a good wood sculpture doesn’t need to have a lot of detail, it needs good composition, carving, sanding and in my case painting. Process: I hand carve or sculpt from bass wood, paint with acrylics and layer with stain washes and finish with many coats of non toxic lacquer. Education: What I do is self taught, learned by trial and error with the exception of some painting classes. I have been carving for over 25 years as my full time profession.
