My collage works are based on the daily abstract realities of life that I have observed. Our minds are somewhat fascinating. My collages remind me of puzzles, bits and pieces of thoughts assembled together in a fashionable exchange of ideas that aspire to new levels of mysterious destinations. My collage works are in a constant state of change. The art of collage can create a reality that becomes what you make of it. You sometimes, at least from my own personal experience never know the end results until you have used the available resources that you have on hand at the moment and there is no more to add, unless an inventive, surprising idea comes to mind. This can happen during the actual process of putting the collage together. I generally include found papers from books, sheet music, photos, papers that I have made modifications, lost letters that revealed perhaps a secret passion, playing cards that represent the “games of chance” that we sometimes pursue. The found objects that I use help to sanction the art work with a little more profound presence. I also search for and work toward creating charm and personality for my collage works. There is a blending of the past and the present for a feel of nostalgic ambiance.
