Mike Bose

My involvement with ceramics began in the early 1970’s at Northwest Missouri State University. Good sculptural form has always been the thrust. I use a variety of forming techniques including slab construction, wheel throwing, and coils in my work. Raku is my process. The Raku fire allows me to be involved with the piece during the fire as well as before and after. The clear crackle glaze and carbon blacks are as honest as the forms themselves. I think good form is timeless and does not yield to fads and trends. My work will reflect interests in archeology and paleontology, as well as the solid honest environment of living in the farmlands of southwest Iowa.
