I am consistently drawn to the patterns, textures and colors that nature offers us. I enjoy the way in which a feather or a fish scale, in repetition, can become a complex and beautiful vision. I combine these natural patterns with architectural forms and structures. In doing so, I am able to create a balance between the organic and geometric worlds of design. I hold the process of crafting jewelry to be as important as the inspiration that compels me to create. There is something magical in the physical act of making jewelry by hand that cannot be achieved through the use of computers and machines. It allows me to stay present in a future driven world, slowing the pace and focusing on my passion. I hand fabricate my structures out of sterling silver and gold sheet and wire, and hand cut my patterns using a jeweler’s saw. Once each piece is finished, I oxidize the silver using a natural patina, and hand finish each piece before inlaying my hand cut patterns or stingray leather.
