I have always concerned myself with sculptural compositions reflecting aesthetics that are non representational and allow for open interpretation.
My aesthetic preferences lean toward bold lines and architectonic compositions when designing artwork.
Sculptures constructed from steel offer lyrical forms that hint at three dimensional calligraphic characters, suggesting a spirit-like essence within the assortment of twisted and welded parts.
Each piece is carefully constructed one shape at a time, often originating from a quick sketch or a series of drawings. Once engaged in the process of cutting and bending each part I am committed to achieving a sculptural piece that encompasses some facet of tension, rhythm, visual harmony and a feeling of movement, physical or visual.
I prefer the immediacy and structural properties of wood, steel and stone. These materials allow me to create shapes and forms that maintain their position without compromise, especially concerning weather or physical contact, lessening the possibility of damage.
Finished surfaces vary from natural to commercial colors, allowing me a freedom to express emotional nuances within the nature of each piece.
All sculptures and furniture are one of a kind and all work associated with their design and construction is done by the artist. On occasion I will use an assistance with grinding and finish coating applications. All powder coating is performed by an independent company.
