For many of us, our identity is tied to memories from our childhood. There are moments when we see an image, and we are taken to another time and place. One that seemed simpler. My goal is to find these triggers of memory. However, I also try to find a way to give us a deeper sense of who we are today by using these images from the past. There is a bridge between the vintage style and a modern perspective. What is old becomes new. A contemporary vision of our reality. For the past 30 years, I have been creating art that speaks to memory and identity. Focusing on this search has propelled me to create stories that are a deeper engagement with who we are. Working in collage, this story telling has been inspired by classic films, vintage ads and retro pop culture. The art has developed a unique vision of the past speaking to the present. This series of pieces blends the use of digital tools with the hand made. Layers of prints are blended together to create a collage of images that are stories inspired by the past.
