I work on cotton fabric, batiking with local beeswax, fiber reactive dyes and natural dyes. I use traditional batik tools- tjanting tools and brushes to apply the wax. Each piece is a story combining intricate patterns with iconic images to evoke a sense of nostalgia. The figures remain faceless to encourage dialogue between the scene and the viewer. There are often hundreds of hours of tedious waxwork and more than 30 dyes per piece. The finished piece is floated and framed using archival materials and museum glass.
