To maintain the highest standards, I personally perform all the creative aspects involved in my work. I expose each photograph utilizing available light to capture the natural color and beauty of the subject. I do not use any digital or computer techniques, filters, or any other means to add or enhance the colors. I only photograph with large format (4″x 5″) or medium format (6cm x 7cm) cameras. Their larger color negatives have superior clarity which enables me to produce sharp images in large sizes.Using the view camera necessitates a very deliberate process that requires a significant amount of time to set up a tripod and hand insert and remove each 4″x 5″ frame. Therefore I tend to give a great deal of thought about the visionary goal I hope to achieve before choosing a photographic subject (a process known as previsualization). Often days are spent examining potential subjects, taking notes on the effects of various light conditions and camera angles before a single photograph is taken.I print each photograph utilizing traditional darkroom techniques. The number of prints that I make from each negative varies depending on the image but, because of the time constraints of constantly producing new work, that number is never large. Each of the photographs is mounted and matted using acid-free board according to museum standards. I do all of this work personally without the use of any apprentices or assistants. Please feel free to ask me any questions about my photographs or my technique.
