Kurt Walrath

Working alone in my studio in upstate New York, I create glass vessels with a graphic pattern composed from individual glass elements known as canes and murrine. Complex designs are composed from hundreds of cold pieces melted together to form a bubble, then blown and sculpted into vessels.I am inspired by patterns found in nature as well as historical examples of glass and ceramic forms.
