Combinations of hand selected treatments of cowhide, sheephide, leather, and fabrics are used to create one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces. Inspiration comes from traveling and iconic art and architecture viewed in far away places, often bringing home materials to use in future collections. Using the natural edges of the materials – which are often discarded in most cases by other leather artisans, the artists layer, stitch, and rivet their creations into statement pieces for everyday use. With sustainability in mind, the artists utilize as much of each hide in their process including ranch brand marks, scars, cowlicks and only utilizes materials that are byproducts of the meat packing industry and never utilizes furs or other exotic animal skins that aren’t readily consumed. Different treatments of leather and cowhide are juxtaposed to provide a contrast of colors as well as textures to include an interesting tactile experience for the wearer and observers alike.
