Jimmie Dodson Jr.

As a sculptor, I strive to produce high quality, one of a kind, unique pieces by incorporating simple, geometric shapes and found objects; both natural and man made. The theme behind my work is time (old world meets new world) with a modernistic approach. The materials used range from various mixed metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, bronze, copper and titanium. I also incorporate fossils and special stones. First, I begin with a sketch of a design that I have in mind and then I go collect the metals in which I think will do the piece most justice. Mathematics is often involved and enables my work to reflect an architectural quality. The techniques used in assembling my sculptures depend on the different materials involved; mostly mig & tig welding, brazing and silver-soldering. A patina is then applied and finished with a urethane sealer. I pay close attention to detail and perfection in each piece I create. My sculptures range in size from table-top to life-size (even monumental) and include wall hangings, free standing work and airport entrances. My artwork is on display by both private and corporate collectors; along with public art and galleries.
