Gregory Roche

With leather work everything begins with the choice of materials. My leather is a vat dyed vegetable tanned cowhide that is colored and embossed to my specification using embossing plates which I own. My construction technique is unusual. The front and back panels are firm laminations of textured and colored leathers with complementary pipings. Each piece of textured leather is cut and positioned so that it fits the shape of the bag and the surrounding leathers. The bag is then bound with plonge’ leather using the stitch-in-ditch technique and then hand trimmed. Softer leathers are used for the gusset to provide flexibility of use. I offer custom interior pocket arrangements on any bag.
