Our credo is simple: Creativity is the ability not to follow someone else’s rules.

Everyday in our studio is an exploration that embraces our passion.

Influenced by the breathtaking place in which we live, nature is the thread that connects all things for us. Along with our connection to nature is a considerable appreciation for good design as well as technology. You could say we are at home in the mountain wilderness as mush as in the heart of NYC.

This is the foundation for NaturaDesigns, a collaborative endeavor established in 1990. With a collective 40+ years experience in a variety of creative disciplines in San Francisco and New York, our studio is now located in the Olympic Mountains, northwest of Seattle.

Conceptually for us it is about exploring the faultline between nature and technology. Merging materials from both of these worlds to create unique and hopefully interesting art. It is our intention to create a space for our audience to reflect upon their own relationship with the subject matter. Art is a mirror – as one changes so does one’s response to the work.

Our current series is a visual meditation into a vast array of organic textures, shapes and colors. Elements of nature from around the world are embedded into a medium comprised of tree resin, beeswax and natural pigments. These materials are then fused by heat onto hand finished aluminum panels that appear to float slightly off the wall.

Nature has become an abstract concept to many of us in todays modern world. Something that many only see through a car window. We encourage you to slow down, take a breath, and explore the beauty around you in the here and now.
