I take digital photos of architecture, both interiors and exteriors, manipulate them in Photoshop, frequently eliminating objects or distorting the context of the original image. I piece portions of different architectural elements that are unrelated to each other to construct new, intriguing, familiar, yet unfamiliar architectural forms in my mixed media paintings that fuse mulitple perspectives. I paint around the collage with oils that are mixed with cold wax medium (a non-melting wax). The wax adds more body to the paint and enables me to build up textures by my application of paints with tools, not paint brushes. Final detail is added with the use of carving tools and drawing materials. A final coat of the wax medium is applied to the finished painting and they are buffed to reveal their rich patina.
