Deborah Harkness

I get much of my creative inspiration from traveling and studying art of different cultures. It gives me insight to artists around the world.and new ideas in design and materials for my own work.

I like to include interesting material in my pieces, like unusual faceted gemstones, carved bones and lampworked glass beads, that I also construct. Sterling silver, 18 and 22 karat gold and platinum are the metals I prefer, and all my pieces are original, constructed, one-of-a-kind art pieces. Techniques include, patterns and milled sheets, forging, piercing, stamping, lampwork and enamel. The inclusion of faceted gemstones, pearls, glass and bone with metal offers a creative mix that make my jewelry sculptural yet wearable.
