Dave Piper & Jon Piper
Since 1971, I have been making sandals by hand. It began in Cocoa, Florida, but my sandal making settled in Texas, twenty-seven years ago. My home is now San Antonio, and my garage is the shop. Being self-taught, I have passed the craft onto my son Jon, as he grew up and helped me in the shop. In 1989, Jon met Robin and now she has learned and is working the craft of sandal making. Jon and Robin, live next door and each day we gather in the shop to do out work.
Our products are made the old world way…One at a time. Using a few old machines and many old hand tools, a little over 39,000 pairs of sandals have been made through these thirty-two years of work.
We use the highest quality cowhide leather, crepe rubber sole, arch support and a compacting foam innersole which, in just ten days of wear takes your footprint. The straps are the best part of the whole sandal. The straps are one continuous piece of leather and fully adjustable to your foot. The leather, the rubber soles, everything our sandals are made of are cut and put together by us. Making each pair by hand is a slow process, however, it renders and excellent product. We also repair the sandals, through the mail, when they wear.
The Piper Sandal Co. is a family business, and is just the three of us. Throughout the year we sell at major art shows across America, through the mail, over the phone and on the World Wide Web. We do not sell to stores.
We live a happy life making people feet happy.
WALK WELL!
