Essentially, I am a storyteller and the job of any great storyteller is to communicate in a way that both will engage with the audience and ignite their imagination. My photography, which I affectionately describe as Film Stills of an ever evolving narrative, is themed in the spirit of nostalgia where personal experiences, insights and cultural stances are reflected. This work is meant to empower and inspire, serving as the creative pulse behind the work. Deeply influenced by imagery from the Civil Rights Movement and the Harlem Renaissance, the works of great visual storytellers, such as Gordon Parks, Kerry James Marshall and Norman Rockwell, have truly helped me discover and define my style. Their ability to visually and poetically comment on social, cultural and world issues is truly an inspiration and fuels my commitment to produce work that does the same.
