My interest has always been art, geography (maps), and history in that order. By combining these three passions I am striving to bring my viewers into a particular time in history by utilizing maps, interesting factoids, and visuals of historical events and itŠ—Ès people. By merging all of these elements using pen and ink (stipple technique) on acrylics I have rendered a unique, cohesive, and educational experience by visually immersing my viewers into a specific era. The world and itŠ—Ès history is vast, so being that I am a seventh generation Texan it made sense to begin with my Battlefield Texas Series. My next map series will focus on the American Civil War (1861Š—–1865) with the main battlefield map of this series to include every battle site in itŠ—Ès geographic location. Currently I reside in Leander, Texas near Austin in my house/studio with my wife and two kids. I earned a BFA in Visual Communications from Southwest Texas State University in 1995. The idea for my first map Battlefield Texas: Republic of Texas started in 1999, at which time I began researching TexasŠ—È historical events. In January 2005 I started the map illustration using the stipple technique and finished it in November 2006 (only two years).
