Chris Seeman

Chris Seeman has been creating his metal artwork and selling it at juried Fine Art and Craft shows since 1990. For the first nine years, he was making hand crafted sterling silver jewelry, but the size restrictions were holding Chris’ imagination back.He envisioned large scale metal pieces with the same intricate cuttings as his detailed jewelry. After much research, asking many questions, and a great deal of experimentation, he came up with the beautiful two dimensional walls hangings he makes and sells today. To maintain the high level of quality and individuality that goes into every single piece, Chris does all work himself using no assistants, no employees, and no type of mass production.Chris draws each design out freehand on a sheet of stainless steel with magic marker, then cuts every element of negative and positive space with an electric torch thus leaving the viewer with a musicality of shapes dancing on a plane of two dimensional steel. He further embellishes the composition of the pieces by adding ball bearings, masonry nails, gold and copper leaf, and enamel paint.Chris works out of his studio in an old warehouse building in Cincinnati and enjoys spending time with his wife Diane and their two sons Calvin and Cody.
