Chris Seeman
Chris’s stainless steel wallhangings have evolved from dangling off of women’s ears to hanging on many private collector’s walls. After years of making and selling sterling silver jewelry Chris felt the need to expand. The size restrictions of jewelry were holding back his imagination. He envisioned large scale metal pieces with the same intricate cut outs that his jewelry had. After asking many questions and doing a lot of research and experimentaion he came up with teh beautiful two dimensional wallhandings that you see here today. Chris draws each design out freehand on a sheet of stainless steel with magic marker, then cuts every element of negative space with an electric torch thus leaving the viewer with a musicality of shapes dancing on a plane of two dimensional steel. He further enhances the composition by adding ball bearings, masonry nails, gold and copper leaf, metal rod and enamel paint. He does each piece individually with no templates and has no assistants.
