My Technique: I begin by observation, attuning to the unique flow of my subject. I then shoot with a variety of digital cameras including some of which have been specially modified to see only infrared light. The digital files are then transferred to a laptop and reviewed, often leading to further experimentation and new ideas. Shooting smoke in my studio has yielded amazing images. The flow can be seen as many things, and is a wonderful articulation of natures creative energies. The otherworldly glow of foliage, darkened skies and alabaster skin of my subjects are unique attributes of the infrared spectrum and help me to create an ethereal space wehre the human form can be appreciated as a spiritual manifestation of our higher nature. Images that I feel convey the spirit of my subject are brought into Photoshop for editing. Elements that distract from tje images’s power are modified or eliminated, and the tonal range is adjusted to optimal for printing or presentation. Despite the complexity of the tools, experience allows me to do most of this work intuitively.
