I was living on a small boat, sailing singlehanded and stranded in the Canary Islands when I began to paint in 2002. To save space on my very small boat I used fast-drying acrylics on skinny masonite panels. I love the way the brush strokes and texture stand up on hard panels. I take advantage of complementary color combinations to make the paint “sing.” Favorite subjects are people with everyday gestures, postures and familiar items that communicate so much.
