Egg tempera paint is time honored process of hand making paint by mixing pure pigment powder with a blend of egg yolk and water. This process pre-dates oil paint by hundreds of years, and was used to create the great frescos of Italy, like the Sistine Chapel. I employ egg tempera because of its handling properties.

Because it is a light paint that dries in seconds, it produces fine, delicate brushwork and crisp imagery that is perfect for the realistic illusions I strive to create. Since the main goal of my art is to invite the viewer into my paintings, I rely on realism and detail to complete the illusions of three dimensional depth that achieves this goal.
